Greece Architect
In Greece they had lots of gods that they praised and worshipped. Such as Poseidon, Athena, and Zeus. They loved these gods so much that the made temples for them. Poseidon’s temple was called the Erechtheion, Zeus’s temple was called the Temple of Zeus, Athena’s temple was called the Parthenon. These temples were amazing feats of architecture.
The Parthenon was built to honor Athena goddess of wisdom and strategy and patron goddess to Athens. According to study.com the cost of it was 469 talents, 1 talent could buy the most advanced warship from that era. The government of Athens had the Parthenon built. The Parthenon was made out of pentelic marble brought from Mt. Pentelicus. The architects of this building are Iktinos and Kallikrates. The pieces were like giant legos and they did not have to use mortar.
The Erechtheion was a temple that was made for multiple gods such as Poseidon god of the sea. According to Ancient History Encyclopedia it is also the sight where Poseidon stabbed his trident into the ground because of this that area is the most sacred area in the Acropolis. The government of Athens had it built. It was made out of marble in the ionic order. The architect was Pericles with Pheidas.
The Temple of Zeus was built to honor Zeus god of the sky. According to Olympia-Greece.org it was the most important building in Olympia because Zeus is the chief god. The creators of Olympia had it built to be the centerpiece. The architect was Libon and he built it in the doric style. The material they used was white stone coated with a thin layer of stucco to give it a look of being marble.
As you can see people in Ancient Greece were pretty advanced. With all of the technology we have now it would still be hard to reconstruct these temples. So just remember when you think of Ancient Greece they weren't much different than us.
